AI saved you again

It's fascinating to realize how many AI tools I've integrated into my daily work routine.

For instance together with chatgpt to enhance my website's text, aiming to make my message more concise and understandable. You still need to do some tweaking to get it right, but at least you get a head start.

At a out door photo session I did I could now push the photos from good to greater. With the assistance of Topaz Denoise, an AI tool, I was able to eliminate unwanted grain and enhance the overall sharpness of the photos. And I often use Topaz Photo to scale up images from Mid Journey too.

In my experience, I often see where the composition of a photograph could be improved back at the office. Although I had previously relied on my skills in photo manipulation, the new Photoshop beta generative fill feature has made the process significantly easier. Particularly for nature and background elements, this tool delivers impressive results, and also just change faces that are in the background. By incrementally applying generative fill in small steps, it becomes easier to obtain synthesized results of high quality, resulting in sharper outputs. It’s still early days for generative fill.

As AI continues to advance I’m looking forward when even animations are easy to generate, and I aim to remain at the forefront when it comes to new tools to make the day to day taks easier to handle.

Overall, the integration of AI tools has change the way I work and allowing me to achieve greater efficiency and creativity.

Another project I’ve done with Metric

Metric is one of the masters of packaging in Norway, and this time is for a Organic Wine Spritzer.

“Oslow is a lightly sparkling spritzer. It pairs organic Italian white wine with organic fruit juice. Developed by Arcus Wine Brands.”

New Photos on Unsplash

I've uploaded a lot of new images to my Unsplash. You can download and use these images for free if you want, and use it for both commercial or personal work. So why do I upload these images to Unsplash, and all up for grabs? The reason is that I use this service a lot, and it's how I pay back to this fantastic service and community. I've earned a lot of money by using all the free images I need to communicate to my clients the way I want and need.

So take a look at my images and grab what you want ;)

Remove dust and scratches in Photoshop

In this tutorial I show a trick that makes it much easier to see details that you feel but don't necessary see. By using curves it reveals problem areas that is hard to see. It's not a quick fix solution but it's a good solution.

And I also talk about why you , as a 3D artist of some sort, should do photography and also how to tell simple stories by adding the right details.

I'm close to a 1000 subscribers and as you may have heard, YouTube has added a new ceiling for moneytization on videos, so I need more followers to reach that goal. So hope you can share my videos and of course subscribe :)

Harddrive failures. How I fixed it for free and why the crash it were all my fault

Yes. Long header.

I had a harddrive failure and it were all my fault. I needed som files on a drive that were Mac formated and try to get the files, fast and easy. I thought. I know that Mac partitions aren't easy to open on windows, but everything is possible.

Damn, I followed a stupid tip online that I should just create a new partition in a Windows format. !!!! Don't do that !!!! That didn't work at all. And if I tried the drive on a Mac, everything was protected. I couldn't reach any files. I tried to remove that partition but that only made it worse.

Then I found a program online that were supposed to be able to scan my drive on a windows. Most of them are useless and suddenly I got a failure message in one of them and the whole drive were wiped.

So here's the fix. And it's not solid, but it works. I found online a program called Photorec. It comes with a program called Testdisk. It runs in the terminal on OSX/MacOS, Linux and Windows. It scans all your files and add the files and recover in the correct order where it finds the files in the directory. Some other program tries to collect similar files, like all you JPGs for instance. But that just mess everything up, and take for ever to browse through.

Steer away from Disk Drill, DMDE and I guess more. I've successfully used GetDataBack, but I didn't remember it before I had started with Photorec.

It takes a while for the program to find all the files and it takes for ever to clean up. But the good thing is that I have all my files, and most of them aren't corrupted. Sadly some of them.

OBS! You need a second drive to retrieve your files. Your files are never lost on a drive, but can be overwritten if you use the same harddrive.

See this video if you are unsure how to navigate the terminal.

Tip for equalize / balance in textures in Photoshop

Tip for equalize / balance in textures in Photoshop

Sometimes your texture is almost 100% seamless and tileable. But small differences in light and shadow easily show that this is a tiled texture and it's a 3D image.  As humans we always look for patterns and they are easily spotted and by equalizing the texture you make it more believable.

You find the free texture pack here:

If you have a material suggestion, write it in the comments :)
