The Troll

The Troll is a commercial I produced for Ard arealplan.

Production by Absurd Film, and together we created this unusual video for a spatial and community planning film.

I engaged Absurd Film to find an unusual angle on Ard arealplans vision “create good places”. A part of a larger strategic campaign for the firm.

Erlend Bjelland from Absurd wrote the story about a Monster that are particular interested in areal planing. We needed to hook the viewers attention quickly so we open with a scream.

The monster is chasing a girl. The scene could be interpreted in many different direction, so we had to make sure the monster is just not a creepy dude, but a monster monster. So we engaged a mask master Jim Udenberg. He have worked for a lot of different tv-shows and it was the work for Magnus that we knew he was up for the task.

Make up on the set was done by Nina Simonsen

They did the filming in June 2019. The little girl hadn’t been up this late ever, so she was having a lot of fun.

Even though I was the producer, I also did the visual effects, graphics and color grading.

Every background with the place had to be created in post production. The place couldn’t be any particular place, it’s representing a vision, a great future. Since it were filmed with Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K raw, there was a lot of color to tune without breaking the image.
